satin finish Question

is the satin finish something that is applied, or is it just raw INFI that has been buffed out more? the reason I ask is, I recently bought a FSH at blade west and stripped it. the naked blade is perfect with no dimples at all. it looks like a duller satin finish. I was wondering if I worked on her a bit if I might be able to attain a satin finish looking blade?

It's not a coating if that's what you mean. You can achieve it by buffing/sanding.

Sounds like you got lucky under that coating! :thumbup:

Raw INFI, nothing applied to it. :thumbup:

Here's a Ruck that Ban stripped, satinized & convexed. You're looking at nekkid INFI... And it looks good, don't it? :D

You should be able to. I just stripped a ratmandu for the first time, and had the same results. The blade was near smooth with few dimples. I started sanding with a 60 grit spongy block last night and it already looks satiny. 120grit, 220 and 400 should be awesome.

edit - you can see the strip results in the Rat forum. No polish pics yet though.
