1.) How much more will it cost as an option on the new line for the satin jack?

2.) Has anyone had issues with rust on users without coatings?

I am just curious because I don't like the way coatings look when they start to wear off or get marked up.

With reasonable care, INFI is respectfully corrosion resistant. If this is a concern of yours, join the users and keepers club; get the Satin finish ofr keeping and use the snot out of the coated one.:D

Nimrod,
That is just it, I want the satin for a user, that way I don't have to worry about it looking nasty after I use it for a long time, it will still look minty fresh. I can provide resonable care. I guess I just wanted to know stuff like, has anyone taken their uncoated busse on a week long backpacking trip, and had it rust if they didn't wipe it with tuff-clothe the whole time or keep it oiled?

Sesoku,

I have had my Busse's in truly bad conditions (wet and generally unclean) for extended periods (a couple of weeks or longer) and had no problems. This is true of INFI blades as well as ATS-34.

Sesoku, satin finish gets pretty scuffed up when used hard. It's hard to see, but here is a pic.

D'oh forgot the pic.

Here it is.

In my experience INFI is pretty corrosion resistant. I have higly corrosive sweat, don't ask me why, but I can eat through a lot of normal metals given enough time and exposure. I carry my Active Duty on a daily basis and close to the skin with no garment in between. I have had very little rust and what I did have was taken care of by 0000 steel wool. A little Marine Tuff cloth and it is protected plenty.

The Crinkle coat is even better when it starts to wear off, The knife goes from a crinkle coat, to a smooth coat to a satin finished knife slowly with every cut you make.....:D

Great replies, thanks a lot guys!
So does anyone know how much extra satin usually costs?

I like the thought of starting with the coating and then slowly satin finishing it over the years with lots of heavy abuse!!! :)

Sort of like replacing all the soft, pretty skin on your hands with callouses over years of hard work.:D

paint is ok but adds to much weight...

take the paint off and you could probably take one more beer and still be under the limit.

I don't know about the new line pricing differences, but with the old line a satin finish was $65. The $100 dollar price difference was for an LE version, which also had fancy micarta. Conversly if you only wanted fancy handles, snakeskin for example, it was a $35 charge.

Or just go straight the the satin finish! Why wait, lol ;)

p.s. - Unless it's black crinkle coating, that stuff is just too awesome!
