c-nile virus has infected me so i need some help.:barf:

it has been discussed several times before but i haven't read or heard of a definitive answer to this question.

what was the thickness of the zt satin jack?

what was the thickness of the early le jacks?

what was the thickness of the last le jacks?

thanks:confused:

I'll take a stab from memory....

1) 1/4", they were just done in the style of the other ZT's. I don't think any were 3/16"

2) 1/4" because they were on the same page for ordering with the same specs as the CG SJ.

3) 3/16" if I remember correctly all SJ's switched over to 3/16" at the model's production end. (which shocked some people when they arrived)

3) I was thinking that only the CG models made the 3/16" transition and the LE models were 1/4" only.

so if i wanted a 1/4 incher i could buy either a zt or le and be good?

i'm looking for a 1/4" jack in satin for a vehical user, symetrical edge.

i wish jerry worked in the shop, he would know the answer for sure.

wtf? maybe the shop never knew either:confused:

I don't know if you can safely use a name request like ZT or LE....you might not get the 1/4" you're looking for...

Going after a symetrical edge makes it a little more tricky without having the current owner measure. I think almost all the early SJ's that were most definately 1/4" had the asymetrical edge..then transitioned to more and more symetrical edges.

lol, one of these days he's gonna get us back for all these quick little comments :)

I know I've got a pic of a satin BA-E with an asymetrical edge. Now it might have been a custom order....which would go to all standard satin finishes being symetrical.

jerry doesn't have the time to read all this stuff.

he's probably sh!tfaced and trying to think up some new riddles to stump us:D :D

The default grind has traditionally been asym to my knowledge. That applies to all finishes. That is changing now... unfortunately.

Just asked Jerry for ya Skunk, here were his answers.....

1) Right around .22" - .23"
2) Same as CG's so if not true 1/4" then really close.
3) Same as the ZT's

To me that basically says as long as you don't get one of the late batches of SJCG's you're safe :)

strange, all my satin finishes are sym, except one bm le #500

You've got a BMLE with an asymetrical grind? That's...well...shocking. I was under the impression that even though those knives were finished over several years (rather than the beginning of the Mistress run) they were all done with symetrical edges.

(this is gonna hurt like fricking hell)

Yeah SH.....You..............were..........................................right.

Well partially, with that info, something doesn't mesh with 3/16" LE's on the for sale boards. Either people can't measure, or some LE's did leave the shop in 3/16".

Really? Hmmmm. Maybe it was just the CG models... I've never really been into the LEs
