Who would buy a Nimramvus but for the BT coating that you hear only bad things about? I would like a Satin nimravus since i'm not too excited about getting a knive to have the finish wear off....

Or am I just being paranoid and the BT coating is just dandy?

I've heard so-so things about the BT coating, but I bought an 806D2 anyway...

You could remove the coating and make it satin yourself! ;)

I've heard a lot of complaints about the BT. I have a Nimravus that was beat up on two camping trips so the BT isn't looking great on mine either.

But it doesn't bother me at all. Just gives it that 'well-worn' look.

Benchmade River Rescue = Satin Nimravus (but has sheepfoot-like tip)
or
Call BodyCote to have your BT Nimravus Boron Coated.

I can't offer any advice on removing the BT 'cos I've never done it before....but if you do...don't remove the BT underneath the handles. It will trap moisture and start to rust if you do.

OwenM has this experience with his.

If you send BodyCote your blade, they'll take the BT off and then boron coat. You have to take the handles off and send the blade only. Do a search and you'll find tons of info.

Hmmm...
A satin finish would be awesome in my opinion.

I think you should get one then post picks so I can see if I would like one.:D

FWIW, according to another post in this same section of the forums, Bodycote is no longer doing work for individuals.
