Do any of you know how many knives are made(or were offered) with the Snakeskin and Satin finish ??

That combo turns me on.

Game Warden LE, altho the GW doesn't bring out teh best in the snakeskin scales.

Active Duty. I got me one of dem. Pretty. Very much pulls out the Snake coloring.

I'm sure there were other Custom Shop offerings. I can't think off-hand much that was satin/snake from production. But I also am not a font of Busse production info either. ;)

My wise friend from Up North is correct ;) (thanks Drew)

The first was the Custom Shop Active Duty. There are also many custom/variants with this combo. Some of the handle pattersn look much better than others with the Snakeskin. I really like the "rope" cut handles the best in snakeskin, next best is the Fusion handle in snakeskin.

Some others to look for are the Original SJ with Snakeskin, I have a 2-tone (satin and black blade) with snakeskin in the BAIII handle and that looks great as well

I hope that helps
:D:D

...but I can tell you that it first appeared on the Custom Shop Active Duty back on 3.Nov.02

Hmmm... This combo has been around longer than that. I got a snakeskin and satin recurved Satin Jack variant on 23 April 2002. Was this the very first with this combo?

I couldn't list all the models that were offered in that combo, but I can tell you that it first appeared on the Custom Shop Active Duty back on 3.Nov.02.

If you have the time for some research, check out the Nothing but Pics thread and the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.

You've definately picked a sweet looking combo.

Good God, thats a load of pictures, saw alot of absolutely awesome blades. Looks like alot of $$$ were spent on the various collections.
Does the innuendo of "HOG" mean that so many have large collections, that they hog from others ability to get ahold of the same blades ??

I stand corrected. Mike's variant SJ appears to be the first.

Of course, that was probably a one off, where the AD was an email and website offering.

I've still got my two ADs. Mike, you still got that SJ-V? ;)

Bert_G:
The Hog moniker is only bestowed by Jerry himself, and only he knows what truely qualifies one as a Hog. Some have large collections, some root out the old 80s blades, some just know all there is to know of INFI and the Busse way. There are rumored to be a couple Sasquatch Hogs who meet all of the above factors, and then some. Piglets beware!!!

Hi, Drew,

Good to hear from you.

Yes, that knife is the only one of its kind.

Sadly, I no longer have it. I've had some serious health issues over this last year, and I've had to make some hard choices, in order to pay off medical bills and get my business back in order. (Still working on doing those, and there will be more for sale.) I sold that knife about two weeks ago, to a fellow member on this forum.

Hi Mike,

Sorry to hear you had to let her go, but I understand; your health and livelyhood take priority. I'm glad to hear you're on the mend.
Knowing the folks around here, that SJ-V may find her way back home someday. :)
