Anyone have a pic comparing the 3? I have tried to fight the ASH urge... but it is hopeless. You guys keep posting cool pictures of new INFI and I... just... can't... resist... abusing my credit card (I think I get points or something anyway) :D.

Agreed. DC without a doubt. Look at post #53 here and tell me that finish doesn't kick ass. Can't wait to see mine (DC w/ OD G-10 Mags).

Only pic I have of a Satin and DC side by side.

I much prefer Satin myself, for a few reasons...looks being the main one. Also less drag, but that won't mater much unless your slicing everyday. Sold a Sage the first day I got it. For some reason it is my least favorite coating.

I've always been a DC fan....still am, but I think I'm slowly moving to the camp of preferring satin over DC.

I favor raw INFI, but in it's stripped state. I feel too compelled to maintain satin, and DC looks too dirty the way I use it. Stripped looks like a beater, because for me it is.

The top knife, the bottom knife, and the one above the bottom are satin. The Middle knife is urban grey. (No double cut)

Cool pics guys... thanks!

It's difficult to judge, but there doesn't appear to be a lot of difference in color between the Double-Cut and Urban Grey. Although I understand one is coated, the other is more of a bead-blasted look.

mymindisamob: Man... I do like that stripped look. It is all business!:thumbup::thumbup:

That is one sweet CS BATAC you've got there. :D

I have long been a fan of DC, but satin is also on top of my list. Satin looks good even when it is used and scratched up. My original CS AD is one of the prettiest ones I have and it is well used. As far as coatings go, I like the sage/desert olive personally. If you wanted to get the look of DC at a distance and have the protection of a coating, gray might be the way to go. Not for me personally, but I can see why some favor it.

I have to say that Urban Grey really isn't a replacement for a Double cut blade.

Any coated blade that you use will have wear in the coating. Eventually it will get ugly enough that you will want to strip off the coating. Then you will be left with raw infi, probably with large pits in the surface. It's not my favorite look.

Properly cleaning up a scratched satin or double cut blade can return it to it's original appearance.

kdstrick,
While it may not look like there is much of a difference in the pics, I think it really is substantial.
If you like the double cut look, I strongly encourage you to pay the extra money for it.
The way double cut wears and feels is hard to appreciate until you've seen it in action.
If you're still torn, you could always adopt the Lunde approach and buy both.:D

Lazlo Hollyfeld, you wrote:

I'll drink to that! :thumbup::thumbup:

I like satins alot, I dont really own many DC's. I agree though if you want a DC blade spend the money on it....its worth the extra.

Satin's my favorite then DC, for coated blades I pretty much like black

Here's some DC's, I need to get the satins together (soon as the Cultelli show up)

As has been said, DC and satin are finishes, the others are coatings, after you wear them off or strip them ???????
