I've been searching for the perfect all-around fixed blade for a while now. I have folders aplenty, all Cold Steel, and all excellent. I have neck knives and boot knives, and a couple of pricey pieces I'm honestly afraid to beat too hard, just because they're pretty.
I received my RC-4 today after a brief but intense period of anticipation. As soon as I slid it out of the package, I felt satisfied. It fits my hand perfectly. It has a solid, reassuring weight, but excellent balance. The blade is long enough to handle real work, but no so big as to get in its own way. I like the dry, slightly rough texture of the linen micarta scales. There's a certain stalwart elegance to the feel of them. I even got excited about the MOLLE back for the sheath, since it lets me carry the knife horizontally, which gets it out of my way but keeps it accessible. The overall package is a fantastic piece of kit, and I look forward to beating the living hell out of it at every opportunity as I enjoy and share with my kids all the woods lore my father taught me.
And now for the gratuitous knife shots
