Couple of questions...

1) Have you found the Perfect knife for Your needs, meaning you have no desire to get another knife in the forseeable (That can't be a word sorry :barf:) future?

If so - What is it, and how long did it take to find it?

2) May be you have not found "The knife" yet, but perhaps you have Found "The Maker / Manufacturer" for your needs and will stick with them for their line of knives exclusively, having no desire to get another from anyone else in the forseeable (sorry can't help the spelling :barf:) future?

If so - Who is the Maker, why do you like them so much?

Im a believer that you can never find the one knife or even the one maker. I know that doesnt help you, but ive handled and owned almost every top production knife alonge with some customs yet another always pops up.... Something better is always in the making. It sucks!
Sorry to not exactly awnswer your question.
Matt

If you ever find the perfect knife, how about letting the rest of us know, I have several hundred and am still looking.:D

Phill Hartsfield's folder would end the madness but $750 spent on a folder might make me mad, as in crazy. One of his fixed blades ended my search for that type of knife. We'll see.

Yes, and no.

I have found the perfect knife for my knife needs....

The Buck 110.

But I just can't decide on which Buck 110....:o

I already have one regular 110, an Alaskan Guide 110, and two Custom Shoppe 110's.
And now I'm planning my next Custom Shoppe 110...the final one....the perfect one (yeah, right!):

Nickle-silver bolsters
No rivets
No finger-grooves
BG-42 or ATS-34 blade-steel
And either brown elk or sambar stag scales

Till then, this is "The One"....

After owning a Sebenza, it's hard to like any other production folders. I may buy a few down the line if they really peak my curiosity, but only custom knives still really get my desire burning at this point.

I picked up an Obenauf Bandit that I like a lot, but not quite as much, and I'll soon have an STR Ouparator in Damascus to see how that feels for me. I have a good feeling about that one.

If Spyderco were to make a waved Endura with a lock like the AXIS lock, then yes, I'd be completely staisfied. But for now, the closest I've come to the satisfaction you're talking about are a Spyderco waved Endura, and a SOG Spec Elite (See? I mixed them to make my ideal knife.)

I can say with certainty that there is no knife currently made in my price range that I like better than my EKI 7A. I've pretty much given up on buying from other makers for the foreseable future. Though when the Mini-8 comes out, I may have a new EDC.

Some day I'll talk myself into trying a Sebenza or Strider but not anytime soon.

I am 25 years old with a collection that consists of (ballpark) 450-500 knives. Including everything from Busse, Chris Reeve, Spyderco, customs by Siegle, P. Patton, Laconico, etc. My knife buying "sickness" seems to constantly be evolving even though i am always trying to justify why a particular knife should suit my needs and there is no reason for me to carry/buy any new ones. The problem is, every week or so, at a god forsaken website known as BF;) in the "Exchange" thread i find a new knife that is a little more "perfect" than the last.

I havent found the perfect knife, nor do I believe there could be one knife to accomplish every task I would need a knife for. However, I know what I really like in a knife and the two companies that have those characteristics are Spyderco and Busse.

1) Have you found the Perfect knife for Your needs, meaning you have no desire to get another knife in the foreseeable future?
No, but I could design one and (if I had the money) commission it.

I don't have a favorite maker. The number of skilled knife makers even just here on this forum is almost staggering.

I would rate my current carry rotation as about as good as I would want for any situation. Rijbak, HD7, 14, and Les Adams tac folder with about as nice a liner locking concept as I have seen. Thick as the HD7 and thicker than the RB. Very nice design and blade shape is excellant too. keepem sharp

I am very proud and happy with my collection, but it will never stop. I don't have as many as some people but way more than I did a couple of years ago (30ish) but I don't mean it's about the numbers, but what fits your needs, at a given time; so to me their is no one perfect knife, just what's good in the hand now ;)

I want a Ray! thanks for reminding me!!
