Went hiking today with my girlfriend and some of our buddies. We had a good time, despite rain and mud. This is the trail above where I live, on a public hunting area, which contains two trails. One leads down the mountain into a valley with a pair of ponds big enough to swim in and waterfalls that, because of the recent rains, were running hard and fresh. Just wanted to share some pics of the scenery. I had my BK14 and Kabar 1217 with me today as my primary knives.

Some scenery. Most of the plants and trees here aren't native: Eucalyptus, strawberry guava, paperbarks and ironwood trees.

Myself.

It was a really good day today. Good fun, good friends, and just some good time outside. I've been jonesin' for a hike for a while now. Glad I got this one in today.

Beautiful man, you are very blessed in the place you get to call home! Thanks for taking us along!

Like RogueBowie said X2. Seeing pics like that is more than likely the closest I'll ever get there. I really enjoyed them, thanks!

Thanks, guys. It really is beautiful here, especially on a day like today. There's nowhere I'd rather be!

Beautiful place, I think I've got 3rd or 4th cousins in Hawaii, hell its possible your one of those cousins :D. By the way, whats up with your 1217? Has it been convexed or scandi ground?

now that is a hike! beautiful waterfall. i had the privilege of visiting there when i was a kid. it is one of my most memorable trips. thanks for sharing

Waimano is my guess? Kudos you guys for going with all the unpredictable weather :) What get for lunch? heh heh

Yep, up in Palisades. The weather wasn't too bad; it was rather rainy and muddy on the way down, but after hanging out at the falls for a while the sun came out and the hike out was much more pleasant. Lunch on the trail consisted of water and beef jerky, and a trip to Zippy's afterwards... Breakfast was a bagel and spam musubi!

Spam is fantastic. I had some for breakfast today. I could have some for breakfast every day. I cut my Spam with my Eskabar when I make it myself. :D

Haha... We could well be related, with how Hawaii is... Everyone knows or is somehow related to everyone else! As for my sharpening, that's just from being used to dig/chop through roots in sandy soil and some practice sharpening when I wasn't as good as I am now (which isn't very good.) I think I managed to semiconvex the blade on accident somehow.

What I wouldn't give to be in that waterfall right now...

Thanks for sharing the pics!

Nice pics. I haven't made it to Hawaii yet, but it's on my bucket list for sure! Thanks for making me want to bump it up a few notches on the list though...

Damn i miss Zippys, last time i was home i went up Moanaloa valley for the first time ever. Didn't even know there was a trail there.
