Yangdu asked me to post these Indian Knives up for sale on her behalf. I believe Pala found these sometime back but I can't be certain.
Fortunately for me and you she had Dino in Reno check them out and provide some worthy details about each one. I had no idea he was so worldly and knew so much stuff.
Had a blast chatting with him last visit to Reno.
Offered up are 4 Indian style daggers? These are modern production, all look brand spanking new, not a mark or a scratch on any of them. All are way high on the cool factor scale. All look very well made, very solid, fit well in the sheaths. Very nice indeed.
So up for grabs, a group shot of all 4.

# 1 offered for $225. 11 inches overall length. SOLD.
Dino's description- A wonderful Khangar dagger, larger than the others. This style originates in Oman, and traveled with the Mughals to India. The blade is of pattern welded steel with a strong central ridge with a full double edged pattern. It has wonderful symmetry in shape. The blade is etched to show the excellent pattern with a detailed and well executed design on the blade.
The hilt and scabbard are deeply embossed and have a nielio or koftgari damascene style with unknown metals.
My addition- This is the best of the 4 in my untrained eye. The etching is quite deep, very nice.

#2 offered for $145. 9 inches overall length.
Dino's Description- A wonderful Ganesh or elephant hilt and Jambiya style dagger. Again the hilt and scabbard are engraved in a nielio or koftgari damascene style with unknown metals. The blade is of pattern welded steel, etched to show the pattern with an ornate design midway on the blade.
I have heard these called Wedding Daggers as being given as gifts to wedding guests.

#3 offered for $ 120 8 1/2 inches overall length.
Dino's description- A wonderful tiger hilt and scabbard in this Jambiya style dagger. Again the hilt and scabbard are engraved in a nielio or koftgari damascene style with unknown metals. The blade is of pattern welded steel, etched to show the pattern with an ornate design midway on the blade.

This would make a great letter opener or add to your miniature collection.

#4 offered for $100 8 1/2 inches overall length.
Dino's description- This dagger has the typical Tawlar hilt, with the disc pommel common to tawlar swords. The hilt and scabbard are engraved in a nielio or koftgari damascene style with unknown metals. The blade is of pattern welded steel, etched to show the pattern with an ornate design midway on the blade. I have heard these called Wedding Daggers as being given as gifts to wedding guests.

Again, these are modern production, they are not sharp, no attempt was made to make them sharp.
Ceremonial but again way high on the cool scale.
Many thanks to Dino in Reno for telling us about these beauties. He knows a ton more about these things than I do. I'm truly beholden to you for your help on this.
I now have a tiny taste of what Yangdu goes through every day trying to keep all these knives and information straight and where it all belongs, I have a bit of a headache pondering all this and may have to go lie down for a bit. Actually don't take much excuse for me to lie down for a bit.
As I expected it's difficult to part with these too, would love to keep them all for myself but not in the card, not fair to my fellow HI virus victims. So while I'll shed a tear or two perhaps, I'll get em out quick as possible, but no way as fast as Yangdu does. She's got the magic I'll never have.
I think the best plan here is to treat this like Yangdu's deals of the day. Email her at himimp@aol.com to get the done deal. She can then let me know the winner and it will ship from here in the NW.
That way you can do the usual Pay Pal deal and get the shipping amount and she gets the money straight away.
