Uncle Bill did not rest well last night and has been dozing in the recliner most of the day.

Posted by Yangdu with minor help from Uncle Bill. Nobody can do it quite like he does but I'll try my best.

Yangdu

Yangdu? You do VERY WELL.

All of us will help you anyway we can: from active involvement to just being patient and doing what you say.

The Cantina is filled with your friends, Yangdu. It is our honor to be a friend of yours.

Relax.:)

Yangdu or Uncle Bill,
I'm very interested in the WWII 18". I'm a newbie, so I might need a bit of hand holding. Please explain what 'might develop' means in reference to the grain of the horn handle? Do you mean a crack might form under hard use (I plan on anything I get from HI being a working knife), and if so, how easy or hard is it to repair a crack in a horn handle? Also, how do I go about purchasing a blem posted here? Paypal would be prefered as a payment for me, but anyway you'd like to handle it is fine.
Thanks, and I hope Uncle Bill is feeling better soon.

Yahmanin?

"may develop" is speculation. In most cases, NOTHING develops. But most of us take the precautions of filling the crack with superglue and then smoothing down the surface. It is almost a pleasure to fix something so small, making YOU part of the process of having the Khukuri.

Horn needs a bit of occasional moisturizing, with bag balm, vaseline, something on that order. Some folks use special products and they will post here for you.

In effect, the "may develop" is a non-problem.

If you want the 18 incher, follow the ordering instructions at the top of the subject list. And please, be understanding if communications are a bit slow. OK?

Welcome

UB,
If I could share a little of the adrenaline buzz I have right now ... Come to Pappa, little Kobra (I hope, I hope, I hope)

Uncle Bill, email sent with all the info included. Thanks to you and Kismet both for the elaboration on the handle, as well as answering a silly question (I actually read that thread when I found the forum, but I got all excited at the notion of the WWII and spaced it). Be well, and let me join all the others in thanking you and Yangdu for getting us and the kamis together. The history and culture lessons alone make HI a fantastic site even without the blades.

Yahmanin:

Congratulations on that 18-incher. I want one of those eventually too. It doesn't seem that anything can go wrong with a wood or horn handle that you can't fix yourself immediately and permanently.

Uncle Bill: Hope you get a good night's sleep.

Yangdu, thank you. We appreciate your efforts. Stay strong and let us know how Uncle Bill really is.

BTW, whoever got that Kobra's very lucky.

Uncle Bill,
I would like to buy the Chitlangi or the Gangaram. I sent you an email. Hope your feeling better.
Rick
