Holiday weekend, world cup (Germany was impressive!), start of the tour (go Lance), received some nice new knives this week, and killing time making sure my neck knife for the day is sharp enough.
From 3 swipes across my blonde arm hair, not touching the skin, with a flat edge scandi sharpened on a flat stone, holding it flat. 2 or 3 light swipes on a backed loaded strop for maintenance.
The brand new Mule, that came very sharp, cut 8 -10 hairs with 4 swipes. The new Acies, which felt just as sharp as the mule to my finger, cut two hairs with 4 swipes. The spydie is as sharp as any coarser type factory or makers edge I've ever seen, but it can't compare to the polished lazer like sharpness of the scandi (though it might cut much stuff better due to the thinner blade).
Now to go work on the Acies a little, make sure the beer is getting cold, and hoping Lance (or Basso) does well against the young Spaniard champion (he is the best, but I'm rooting for the old guys).
I know hair is not equal, but let's see your treetoppers!
