Here is a 30 inch Sirupati made and marked by Kumar. It is 11/16 max. thickness and weighs almost 5 pounds. Kumar did not spare the steel on this one. The fit and finish are very good and the hardness is about 56 to 57 Rc. The karda is almost 9 inches and is about 60 Rc -- excellently done and a carry knife in its own right. Chakma is about the same.

So, what's wrong with this rig? A couple of items -- one, the scabbard is damaged near the mouth. You can see the tear in the picture. And, there is a slight wave in the grind that does not really qualify the knife as a blem but it is something I don't like and keeps the blade from being perfect.

The scabbard can be repaired with a piece of leather and some epoxy. The edge can be evened up with a stone and 20 minutes work.

So, what's the deal? We will deliver this very heavy duty Sirupati to your door for $125 for a $70 saving off regular. And if you ask we will toss in a topi for good luck.

Call or email if interested.

Perhaps the answer involves them being harder to sneak in the door or to pass off as "oh, this old thing?"

Wow! And I thought my new 30" Cobra at nearly 3lbs was a wrist breaker. I love these short swords but 5lbs is just too heavy. Besides my lovely wife was most perturbed at the last box bearing HI gifts. Something about "what are you going to do with that / don't you have enough of those."

If we get the "thinner" blades, I'd love to see a two pound 30" Sirupati or Cobra. No utility just pure weapon.

Uncle Bill, you have mail. Geez, and haven't even recieved my MS yet and here I am ordering again. Hope I'm not to late.
