simple.

get a big #10 can (coffee etc). Wash it out. Put it in a cupboard or on the counter. EVERY DAY, at the end of the day, go thru your jeans pockets and wallet, and toss in EVERYTHING $5 and under into the can.

I saved over $900 bucks in January this way. Which in turn helped payed for almost 6 new and used knives , a hi end GPS, a SharpShooter Sheath Baldric, and other goodies.

EDIT: mean't to be $90, not 900....LMAO

Cool idea.

I've also heard of something similar where you never spend a dollar bill. Always use larger denominations and save the dollars. Same as your way I guess but fivers are spendable.

I use my debit card 95% of the time though, so these methods don't help me any. Good idea though.

taking all the cash from any purses you find laying about speeds up the process ;)

I usually dump allmy change at the end of the day in a can. Does add up as quick as bill's but it adds up to $100.00 every 6 to 8 weeks

I have a big wine bottle, I mean big. Me likes to drink. Its what I dump my change into at the end of the day. Hopin' for a new XDM 45.

And I thought the easy way was to ditch the BladeForums! ESEE (well, Rat Cutlery...) brought me here and now I've spent my hard earned $$'s on knives I'd never had heard of otherwise.

Been doing that for a while 'cept I throw my big change in my sock drawer. It falls to the bottom. Eventually I take all the socks out , see what I got and get a blade. I bought my BK 11 with dimes last year :D

here's a suggestion for the chain smokers... Think of how many knives you can buy in a month that's thrown out the window because of the money spent on $6-$12 per day on a pack of cigs. Cut out the spending of one unhealthy obsession and spend it on another... unhealthy obsession ;)

In my line of work I spend a lot of time per day with people. Finances always come up and there are a lot of young and single guys out there that spend roughly $500-$1000 per month of discretionary income and they have NO clue where it goes.

I do personal finances also, and I've found that is true. Most people spend a bunch of money on random crap, and have no idea where it goes. I just redid our finances/budget and we found the same thing. That is why I gave myself (and the little lady) an allowance each month. I tend to spend mine within the first week on a new knife :D I have $12 left for this month to spend on what ever I want. Think I'm gonna save that for when Moose tells us what's going on next :D

6-12 per day? yow, that's 180-360 KNIFE dollars per month... now, i figure that's my food budget too... give or take. can't imagine doubling or tripling that... yeah, i don't smoke. nasty habit.

i've got friends that have 200 dollar per month cable bills and they are never home! forget the guys that are home and spend more... geez :)

I tried it my kids allways find it.

put a 120 dB alarm on it :) then you find out it's your wife and she doesn't have a sense of humor ;)

or use some change, and buy a lock box. kids shouldn't develop such habits. or they'll turn out like my brother... con men.

:)

Imagine those that don't understand contracts with energy companies. Some believe that as long as you have your power running, you are under contract. Once you have an expired contract with a utility company, your bills could go up 80% for using the same amount of electricity. Mine went from .09/kwh to .16/kwh. Same with cell phone companies. If you never upgrade or check contracts, you may be overpaying for the same plan offered as a deal a few months prior.

Here's a big one.... REFINANCE YOUR HOME... if you have the money of course. I recently did that and my mortage interest rate went from 5.625 to 4.8. That is saving me $70/month.

Saving money is EASY. You just have to be conscious of where your money goes and make sure you are getting good deals with whom you do business with. I can go on and on but I am sure most have stopped reading this post already. Good luck to you all in this economy. It's a tough one!!

I thought about turning tricks on the corner...I kept turning them off...must have been because I was just wearing my BK13 and it still was too unrevealing :eek::D

This is an old time managment drill, but it works.

From the time you get up in the morning, until the time you go to bed, write everything down.

I mean EVERYTHING. Alarm goes off, get up, make coffee, etc.

At the end of the day, 2 things will happen: 1. you won't like yourself very much 2. you'll realize how much money you could be saving.

I.E. If you drive to work ... car pool. (I know, we're Americans damn it! Wedon't want to be inconvenienced)

If you drive every OTHER day, you'll save half the money.

It really is amazing the money you can save (IF YOU WANT TO) big if.

Bring your lunch (I know you're a geek) It's about half the price though.

Bring a coffee. (I know - more geekhood) It's about 25 cents vs. ????

Clothes - Ever hear of goodwill ... $3 for a nice shirt. $4 for jeans.

Don't get me wrong it ain't for everyone. But you can really save.

AGAIN - IF YOU WANT TOO.

Luckily my kids are long gone and hard to find and I drink starbucks, drive a VERY fast car and shop at ... where ever I want :D

Just kidding ...
