I've always liked ethnic blades. Until recently, I never thought collecting them would be affordable. (Actually, collecting anything is not affordable right now, but it's less not-affordable than I thought it was.) I know there are quality pieces out there, but I don't know the best places to look for them. I'm tentatively shopping around for solid, traditional users- not necessarily "pretty"- in Asian and Pacific styles. I've seen Valiant's website, how are their products? What other sources are out there for parangs, goloks, kris, etc?

Thank you for your kind attention. :)

Mac try this place. Great new Sundangs and Parangs, I know because I've handled Broken Arrow's at the first Khonvention...
Actually touched up the already sharp well hardened edges with my strop. I just sold a plain YCS to one of our brother's here and I'm getting a Kris Parang with part of the money.:D
Their sister website has the old stuff but be prepared to pay for Keris if you like 'em.;)

Edit:
Just noticed that both sites are on the same page, wasn't sure they still were. The Sandata side is the old stuff.:D

Thanks Yvsa! Wow, there are a lot of cool pieces there.

Second Yvsa on that one. I got an old 100+ yr old tombak spearhead there at Cecil's Sandata site. Thats the old stuff.

If you;re looking for ethnic blades for use, not display, then check out the oher side of Kris Cutlery. they make some wonderful filipino and javanese blades for use, and I have bought lots of asian, euro, and filipino style stuff from them. Finishes are plain but clean, heat treat is right on.

Their Pinuti is a steal fer the $$! Reminds me of the machiara of the Roman gladiator days. Most of their asian and filipino stuff is convex ground already.
