Save the Gurkha Regiment from being cut

JayGoliath, thanks for posting this here, been meaning to do it myself. I signed my name when I saw this link on another forum. Yes, please, let's see if we can help out in any way.

Thanks for posting this. Signed my name and forwarded the link to a bunch of folks. Not sure how much good the forwarding will do, since a lot of my friends likely don't even know the ghurkas exist, but it's worth a shot.

I seriously doubt that the Gurkhas will be disbanded from the British Army.

There's a huge amount of propaganda coming from each of the 3 services, Army, Navy and Air. Bitter in-fighting is happening because they know that financial cuts will have to be made. Each of the services is arguing their case as to why they shouldn't be cut as badly as the others.

It won't be long before the strategic defence review is carried out, then we'll really see what's left of our armed forces.

The thought of the Gurka being dismissed from the British military is disturbing. If you really want to get the word out start a facebook fan page and link to the petition. Be sure to include some history and facts.
Something I remember reading, ,some time ago so it may not be to accurate any more, is that a large portion of the financial income of Nepal is from Gurka pensions.

as yorkshire boy has mentioned, this is all speculation at this point, the different services are jockeying for position & doing their best to ensure they get their budgets cut less than the others. no official plans or even leaks about the gurkhas.

the brits love their gurkhas too much after all they've been thru together, and after the debacle with the past labour govt. and joanna lumley, the last thing the new govt. wants is her on their case...

i worry more about what the communist plans are for them in nepal.

i worry more about what the communist plans are for them in nepal.

The Maoist had caused more chaos than development.
They claimed it's a shame for Nepalese to work for others but promise nothing than more oppressions and violence!

With the lucrative salaries from Royal Gurkha, i don't think they will look back anymore.

Let's hope there won't be any civil war.:grumpy:
