Saving space

You'll see the difference (A three-layer Alox model is about the same width as a 2-layer plastic model), but whether it'll make a different in pocket feel? That depends on you.

Don't know about pocket feel , but the Farmer has great hand feel !

One thing that may be obvious is that you are exchanging weight (Farmer) for bulk. The weight may become the overriding factor for pocketability.

The Hiker was my edc for the longest time. Now I carry a Farmer. If your pants and/or pockets are tightish, then it makes a difference. The Farmer is definitely thinner. Either way, you should at least try a Farmer, and sell it if you don't like it. The Farmer just feels and looks right.

I always go by how it feels in the hand. If its not pocket friendly it goes in a sheath, or my bag.

The Farmer is a little bit thinner, a little bit heavier and a few millimeters longer. The Farmer is a great knife for outdoors, I would recommend to buy one, they are not very expensive and those alox models are very sturdy.

If you enjoy edc the Hiker, chances are excellent you'll love edc the Farmer. Tool array is very similar. Farmers have a single, but noticably sturdier blade, the in-line awl,and the grippy, tough alox handles. No corkscrew, toothpick or tweezers. Keychain carry a 58mm vic like the classic and you'll have the second small blade, toothpick and tweezers etc. The saw blades are the same. Farmers can be had for roughly 20 dollars,so its not a big investment. Be careful, they are addictive. They come in different colors and even are customized.
