Thats it I'm doing it! The Microtech Combat Troodon was always on my grail list but due to price I never thought it would happen. I was certain yet another ultratech was going to be my next purchase but then I looked at the price difference not being insurmountable if I go with delayed gratification for once and hold off to get the rest of the cash. I'm determined to get there.

As a side note I did try the benchmade infidel to compare with size in the pocket and I just found i really didn't like where the deployment switch was located as well as the feeling of the action. The mt cypher will also be fine if the ct is hard to find once funds are saved.

Anyone with a combat troodon, cypher, or infidel feel free to give me your thoughts and opinions to motivate me to stay the course.

Sorry mods posted in general by mistake. please move if needed to auto section

If they were legal here, a Combat Troodon or a Halo would be on my grail list as well. Good luck with the mental strength it will require to hold off buying something else for now. :D:thumbsup:

The combat troodon is a very nice knife I carry it quite a bit, no complaints other than some people can have trouble opening and closing it, the switch is pretty stiff. I'd recommend it to you.

I don't own one, but have handled plenty. The Troodon is a really well built knife. If it's been your grail for some time then go for it.

I also dont like the switch placement on the Infidel.

Stiff, so stupid stiff I had to put the slide up against the corner of the wall and lean my weight to get it to close. Sent it back to MT. Waayy too much money for something that unreliable. And this was common problem with several I had experienced. The Infidel is waaay smoother, cleaner action and better built. The combat troodon in carbon fiber with a Damascus blade, well now were talkin.

Mack Daddy? Yo mama?
Man, got off at wrong train stop, now I hope the next one is SOON.

The UltraTech is a whisker shy of 3.5", the Combat Troodon is 3.75", both have same blade thickness, one is $200 more expensive, and takes two thumbs to close for many people. The one-hand closing while staying focused on the task at hand is the main charm of the DA Auto.

You make the call. I find the similar thickness shallower UT blade offers a stronger and stiffer blade, they ALL are taken to very thin edges, the UT also tipped similarly stonger in proportion.
