I went to pick up my truck from my mechanic, he's taken care of my family for some years, and is a friend of my fathers. I saw him using his Leatherman Wave, and commented on it, we talked about prices about the Wave, I then showed him my SOG Blink, and he showed me a NIB Kershaw hunting knife that looked really neat. He alluded to having a nice collection stored in his shop, and I commented that I had about 70 knives. Well, I stated that I was interested, made a joke that he shouldn't have told me, and he said he'd get them down. He must have had about 5 Schrade Old Timer Cave Bears, all commemorative editions in their original display cases with all the paperwork, most had scrimshaws of cars on them, but they were gorgeous. He was astonished when I told him that Schrade went out of business. He had a lot of Kershaw commemorative editions, a really neat Italian switchblade from the turn of the century, some junk knives that looked really neat, a beat up Western skinner, a nice old Buck fixed blade hunter, a few smaller stockmen and folders from various companies now long out of business, a beautiful stag handled fixed blade bowie that he said he used to throw at trees when he was a kid with his friends, I think it was handmade! He also had what appeared to be a Sgian Dubh, made in Scotland, a stag handle, with one side of the handle flat for wear against the body. It was a real treat to behold :D .

Ya always think ya got a nice collection till ya see someone else's. :(

I like seeing other peoples collections, it gives me new ideas for mine. :D

Great Story SHS. I love it when I bump into a closet knife nut. I've just discovered that the bloke who lives down the road from me has been collecting slip-joints since the '60's. He's got about 50 shrades, bucks and queens as well as knives from his travels in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Nepal (he's a tactical hippie like me :D ) He hadn't kept up with modern styles however - When I showed him my Manix he said 'what's the hole for?'
