could someone give me a name of the type of steel that circular saw blades are made from? i am making a few pieces and i need to know what to call this type of steel.

It's called "saw blade steel".
All kidding aside, unless you have some analyzed or unless you call the manufacturer you can't really call it anything else. If they are older blades they have a high probability of being L6, but you just can't be sure.
