Saw-teeth on a #1?

I agree with willis. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. The utility of sawteeth on a knife is way overblown.

I agree. I feel that they just contribute to the "Cool Factor"--nothing more. I don't care for sawteeth nor serrations on a knife.

They serve absolutely no use...other than probably the intendent one which was to cut out of the aluminum shell of a plane and such.
I've owned a #1-8 with sawteeth, didn't cut wood, the only cutting it did was into the sheath.
Other than that, if you're ever going to baton the spine of the blade to split something, the sawteeth will get in the way. It's good to have on wall hangers, but other than that no significant use other than looks.
And after saying all of that...a friend wants to order a #1-6 with sawteeth, go figure.

And..

I personally don't like the look of sawteeth at all.. And I certainly don't like the look of the blade grind with sawteeth on models 14, 15, 18 etc..

Ah hell, I wasn't going to talk but.................

I like the saw teeth on my model 18, because.............
I use that knife in my travel bag. It is set up with goodies, and fish line wrap , raw hide wrap and so on. I use that knife as a jack of all trades.....master of none!

I scale my fish with it, and use it for scraping and cutting when I don't want to dull my serious edge. Yes I have used it, not just looking at or imagining. I would not put saw teeth on a model one.

I use my Randalls. Maybe I should write a book on "using" not collecting.:D
