Thought I would share this information as it does work on knives, and sharpening is a frequent subject of discussion.

Any way was a a Gun Show over the weekend, and ran into what I though was a reasonably price sharpening device.

It kind of remindeds me of when I was a kid of my neighbor who was a barber. Spent many hours at his barber shop handing out, was always fascinated by this big strap he use to get his single edged razor, very sharp.

Any way it is what I will call old school technology, still being made in U.S.A. for sharpening razors, knives, etc.

The linked web-site has some good information, and a u-tube.

No I did not purchase one, but intent to order one when ye old pension check arrives.

If you don't abuse your knives by cutting all kinds of "rough" stuff, this kind of strop is indispensable for maintaining a cutting edge; otherwise, a knife that has been dulled due to cutting PVC pipes, leather, processing wildlife kills, batoning, etc will require the more traditional knife sharpening equipment, and the requisite skill set necessary to get back a factory edge. The strop has no risk of re-profiling a blade, but I've seen plenty of what I consider ruined blades that were aggressively sharpened by clueless dilettantes using traditional knife sharpening equipment.

Well I thought the device would be great to have to touch up knives, disposable razors, scissors, etc.

...and that is what this any most other strops will do, without risking any damage to the blades. I personally like this one and just may purchase one.

Thanks for finding this, my large just arrived today, looks well made. One question though: why do they suggest not using any compounds on the leather?

I think you have a good question, that the person selling the product could answer. E-mail em. Report back how it works, and how you love or hate it.

Yes, it does appear that someone throttled the link. Here's a video of Razor Renew...
