I just purchased a Camillus 7" USMC knife with a sawback design like a USAF survival knife. Is this type still classed as a USMC knife with this design?

This knife was made for a couple of years in 2000 or so. It is a model 5684MK. Has partial serration and a sawtooth on the back and has a kydex sheath.

Where'd you find that, Tureg? Local vendor or online?

Mine came with a leather sheath. I took the top guard off.

The knife was made for Smoky Mountain Knif Works and doesn't meet government specs in that the swage at the top of the blade was moved forward to accomodate the sawteeth.

Does the moving the swage forward cause a weakness in the knife...therefore it doesn't meet military specs?

Anytime specs are changed, it deaviates from what the government specs are, thus it is not what the government issues any more.
It is still a great knife, and I would like to find one new in box for my collection.
Until then, I will be happy with the one I have.
Enjoy.....
