Hello.

It's been a long time since I've posted on here, in fact it's been over 18 months since I last made a knife, but I've just finished this, so I thought I'd post it.

I say finished, it's not 100% finished...I haven't sharpened it yet as I've still not made a sheath for it, as I don't have any leather at the moment!

Anyway...this was basically made from whatever I could find laying around in my workshop.

The 6 1/8" blade is from an old 3/16" thick circular sawblade (pitted surface left), with a 6" hollow grind, the guard and spacer are cut from a piece of angle iron, the end cap is 1075 and the bolt that secures it all together is, well...and old bolt.

The handle is 4 3/4" long.

The steel parts were etched in ferric chloride then dunked in a bath of Philips cold blue. The stag was coloured with Fiebings antique leather dye.

Thanks for looking.

Ian.

Great looking piece. I love that everything in it was repurposed! Makes it a special knife.👍

That blade is flippin' gorgeous!!!!!!!

Great job...... For having such a long vacation!!!!

No loss of skills here!!!!!! Wow!!! Beautiful just beautiful..

Thanks Sam, much appreciated.

Surprised you didn't pull me up on the superfluous 'U' in the word 'color'. Us Brits love a few extra letters here and there. :D

Well I figured you could only take so much abuse from over here in the colonies!🤣🤣🙂

And great work cutting that buttcup in to match the contours of the stag. A 6" wheel is nice to grind on also, good choice.🙂👌👌

Cheers.

Sam...You may mis-spell certain words and you obviously can't pronounce the words like 'garage' and 'tomato' properly, but I don't hold it against you. :D

I think you know which side of the pond my influences come from.😉
