If you combine an old rusty sawmill blade, some old canvas Micarta from the early 60's, and the work of one old stubborn man, you sometimes get something new.

Here is that something new.......

Good looking knife. I bet all three components of this one have some interesting history... :)
 
Im a fan of good sawmill blade, I like it :thumbup: Most Ive seen are something like 1075 + 2% nickle. Good steel ;) Nice knife..
 
She's a beauty! L6? Or am I confusing steels?

I doubt that it is L-6. Probably a 10XX series with perhaps a few extras thrown in. I heat treated it like I do my 1084, except for an interrupted quench, and the edge seems to be as tuff as the lips on a woodpecker.

Ive seen chem specs on a few sawmill blades and they were all about 1075-1080 + 2% nickle..
