Say what you will, that Nilakka blade is a thing of beauty.

I'd like to see what the resharpened ones look like. I'd also like to know what the future runs will look like.

I'm very curious about that myself.
This is a remarkable knife. I really want to see it realize the success that it deserves.

My bet is a type of polished g10 next.
I can see why the ironwood didn't last too long. Short supplies maybe? Cost?

Isn't it in the discontinued list for 2013?

Fyi, the puukko and the nilakka are different knives...puukko is a fixed blade, nilakka is a folder. The nilakka's scales have always been brown g10.

Yep. I picked up a second at the SFO sale that has a very thin secondary bevel. It still looks good, cuts well and the edge survived much longer than the first with real zero grind.

That's news! First sighting of one of the official re-grinds, it sounds like.
Can you post some pics?
And did the guys at the SFO have any skinny on if/when/how the Nilakka will be re-released?

I'm away from home and my good cameras, so the best I'd be able to manage would be cell phone pics. I didn't ask, but as far as I know they are shipping again. At least there are a lot more eBay sellers with them now than there were when I bought my first.

I really like the feel of this knife but i am afraid to use it in fear of damaging it. I can easily make the edge flex with only my fingernail. I'm not certain how adding a micro bevel would help with is unless you really removed a lot of the edge by adding the micro bevel.

I'm still on the fence.
I did get a Burnley Kwaiken folder to hold me over.

Putting a 30° secondary bevel on it will help a lot. It really doesn't take much to change the edge angle. You probably need to take the edge back a little to where the back of the secondary bevel is a few thousandths of an inch thick, but that really doesn't take much either. Of course, if you aren't used to using thin-edged knives, you might be better off leaving it as something to look at.
