Thought that was what you meant but wasn't sure. Beechen in Americn english could also mean really cool which would certainly work in your sentence. Either way good job!

Very nice!

I personally would stain them darker color.

You are right! My first choice would go for a Wengè wood to go along the handles, mahogany my second choice. I found some Wengè for very expansive price and the mahogany just in a very large batch... Unfortunately I can't find easily woods and steel that my mind suggest...

Thanks for watching my works!

Those are very cool. Never heard of "Sayas." Those would make excellent pocket sheaths. I'd be stoked to see a tutorial on how you make them. [emoji41]

Thanks Spyder59, I made these in my free time and I never though to do a tutorial. For sure there is no extreme complexity making them. Just a bit of patience…
I think if you search on youtube you get an idea too.

I appreciate your comment
Thanks for watching.

For a while I thought about making some kind of sheath for a couple of my kitchen knives... to prevent them from banging the edges in the drawer and also to prevent anyone who reaches for somthing from getting a nasty cut. I was thinking abut kydex for the ease of use and cleaning. How do those wood sayas age? I mean... do you have to be extra carefull not getting them wet, dirty, etc.? For transport aI bet they are great but not sure about daily use....

Beautiful work anyway!

Hi Mikel_24,
for sure something like kindex is less delicate than a wooden saya. I just don't like kindex for kitchen knives.
I made my first saya for my wife, to save her fingers from the sharp edge (I'm pretty good in sharpening) and to save the edge from her uncare...
I use the security pin just in case i need transport the knives, usually they are in the drawer and I can take a knife with a hand and unsheat it with the same hand in a movement using the thumb. Sure you have to regulate the friction on the blade in the making, for this reason my sheat are calibrate on the blade.
Sure natural wood is delicate, but with little care using natural oil and wax, your sheat will be awesome for many years...
Standard sheat made in stock are not so comfortable like this, I saw some and I moved to build my own...

Best regards
P.
