Just wanted to say hello to everybody, I have been nosing around here for a while and am overwhelmed at the amount of information on this site. I poked around for a while and decided I would get an account if I had any money in my paypal so I opened her up and there lying unused and forsaken was $25.01. I took at is a sign and I'm now a gold member.
I'm in the Air Force, going on 11 years. As my profile says I'm a Combat Arms Specialist. I teach weapons handling, BRM and ARM. I'm a M107 primary instructor to include all the voodoo math that goes along with shooting 1,500+ meters. I also, maintain and fix weapons when they get sick.
I don't really collect knives although I have quite a collection ranging from a swiss bayonet to several benchmades. I was planning on getting into knife making early this year but the AF had other plans and decided I should forgo my honeymoon (literally) and spend a while OCONUS, so when I get back I will start getting into knife making. I'm planning on attending the ABS Intro to Bladesmithing course when I get back and am already scanning for equipment. I pretty much have files and an angle grinder right now. I was planning on buying some basic stuff but again had to leave and found this site shortly after I deployed and overall am pretty thankful I found it before I got started. You guys have already saved me hours of frustration and probably several hundred dollars in the long run. I'm planning on a KMG grinder with a platen and 10" contact wheel. What do you guys think as my first grinder?
Lets see I wasn't planning on buying any knives but since I have been deployed I found Pohl Force and love them. I believe my next knife will be a BK9 because I don't own a Becker at all and after seeing that pretty much EVERYBODY has one on this sight I think I will see what the fuss is about.
Anyway, there is a little about me and I'm looking forward to continuing to find all the little nuggets of info that are on this site. It seems like everytime I log on I find something else that makes me think or go *facepalm "I should have thought of that". Let me say I know this site has been around for a long time and I'm coming LATE to the party but thank you guys for having this site and taking the time to put all this information out here.
