Gang,

Attended the Sayoc Kali seminar that Jeff Chung taught in New York City last Wednesday night. Was very cool. The material covered was accessible at my beginning level, and sufficiently challenging for another participant, who is an experienced FMA practitioner. Guro Jeff taught both knife and empty hand techniques. The training was mostly knife and hands on, i.e. practical movement rather than theoretical talk.

We received a reasonable sense of Sayoc Kali. It is a comprehensive and deep system with many levels.

Guro Jeff is quite good, very knowledgeable and very articulate. He and his students made us feel welcome. At the end of the seminar, Guro Jeff competently fielded a range of questions. He loves to teach and explain this art, and does it well.

Recommend future seminars to beginners who want to get started in knife training, and to experienced practitioners who want a good sense of Sayoc Kali.

Thanks Guro Jeff!

Alan

P.S. Rediscovered - it's pretty obvious - that you get good at what you practice. Self-defense practitioners, who train with a knife only occasionally, will be at a disadvantage versus those folks who train with a knife all the time, when using knives.
