I was wondering does the front spike on the tomahawk have any uses besides fighting?

No, not that I would see, the axe was designed for fighting, and that front spike is designed for penetration, and slashing. A guy here, edwood, used his on a kevlar vest, penetrated all the way through.

If you ask the Igorots they will show you how they pick up those heads of their enemies by using their axes.

Well now there's something I was totally Igorent about! :P
It hasn't been done in quite a while, the last time it might have happened was in the 1970s, and it had been outlawed for a while I think. Very ritualized and was often a right of passage into manhood. I need to ask some of my older cousins if they had heard stories from out parents or grandmother about any of our tribe taking heads from Japanese soldiers in WW2 during the occupation. But the way my mom talked, it hadn't been done in a long time even though we're from the Bontoc tribe.

The one used was a bit bigger than the Winkler Sayoc.
