SB Stretch, uneven laminate lines?

Just got my SB Stretch, and while I love it, am slightly disappointed. The laminate line on one side is way off and uneven. While I don't really care because I want to use it I wonder how bad it will affect its value should I decide to trade it. Should I send it in? Or back to the dealer? These images are the best I could get

Looks good to me, I would keep it. I think that is normal, but I could be wrong. I have a few Damascus blades that aren't perfect as well. It is just character of the knife you've got. That's just my opinion..
Could send it back for another??

That was my other concern. If I did decide it was something to send back they would most likely offer me something of very close value like a Zdp-189 Stretch. Problem with that is my new one will be here the middle of this week lol. I do agree it gives it character and I know it doesn't affect the performance. I just don't wanna get screwed if time comes to trade it

Mine is similar and so is my SB Ladybug. Definitely has zero impact on the usability. Couldn't say if it will affect trade value.

Yeah every SB knife I've seen has had unique laminate lines. Yours is what I'd expect. Did you give it a workout today? :D

They won't offer another knife. What they do is replace it with a new one of possible. If not, give you an SFO credit at full retail.

Haven't had the chance. Didn't have it until after work. Today would've been an awesome day to see what its made of. I literally spent almost the entire day using my knife for one thing or another

Good to know. I'm going to keep it though. I don't really care about the uneven lines, just wanted to know if it would mess with its value

That's normal.

I had one and the only issue I had with it was
RUST.

After a full day in my pocket.
Orange spots

Stainless ruined me.

Mine is worse than that but it also would have bad blade wobble if I loosened up the pivot just enough to one hand open it easily. When it arrived it was so tight it was by far the worst quality blade I've ever bought so I took it apart to try and remedy the problem and in turn ruined the little pin on the FRN backspacer so I sent it back to spyderco hoping to get a new spacer even if it's a different colored one. Unfortunately I think the only thing I'll get is an offer for 40% off a knife at MSRP price from the SFO so I'm probably screwed. Now my manbug SB is nearly perfect in the clad lines and operation.

Those lamination lines look pretty even to me, unless I am not seeing all the detail in the blurry picture... None of them are 100%, the steel performance outweighs the slight cosmetic imperfections by far IMO. Enjoy !

EDIT: can you post another picture of the blurry presentation side? As long as the SB core is more or less centered between the 420 cladding I would not worry about it.

Use will have considerably more impact on the "collector value" of any Spyderco than things that, while perfectly normal, may appear imperfect. On an otherwise "NIB" knife being offered for sale on the secondary market, the only time those lines would be an issue is if your buyer developed a case of buyer's remorse and was looking for an excuse to return it. Besides, as Spydercos go, it's a fairly inexpensive one, so what's the most you could lose?

My SB stretch has the same unevenness. I'm pretty sure almost all of them do. Sharpen it, use it...love it.

Mine is uneven, but it doesn't really bother me. The only thing that kinda does is that the line is twice as high up on one side vs the other. Oh well...I've learned to accept it and love the knife.

I don't even understand how you would expect them to be even? There is no such thing as perfect grind lines on production knives and you would need everything to be ground PERFECT!!! with absolutely no exceptions if you wanted the lamination line to be even.

In the world of Japanese knives and laminated steels the the lamination line being irregular adds beauty to the blade, it's also a sign it's been forged because only hammering a blade will cause this much distortion in the line.

On one side the line is at least a 1/4 inch higher than the other. That is the uneven I am speaking

I recommend using and enjoying it, and not letting it bug you. [No pun]. I understand you wanting a uniform appearance, but I don't consider it a flaw.
