SBL Large Classic Briefcase Falling Forward

I'm breaking in and getting to know my Saddleback Leather Large Classic Briefcase, and the more it softens up, the more likely it is to fall forward. Does anyone have any tips on preventing this happening?

I was thinking of lining the floor of the front compartment with a strip of dense foam, cut slightly big, to force it out wide. Has anyone tried this before?
 
Sounds like that would work, while providing padding for laptop, etc. I always have mine so full that I don't need to worry about that; but then I pack the kitchen sink.

I have my "divert bag" of stuff (overnight kit) in the bottom of my bag, and it keeps it spread, so maybe think about moving something wide enough and heavy from the upper pocket to the front lower compartment. e.g. stick of deoderant and my first aid kit go down there, along with my extra knife. That provdes some weight in the bottom as well as spreading out the base.
