Hi, guys!

Quick question on which direction to go, for anyone who is in the know regarding the Kriss. If you were going to buy one to SBR, would you buy the pistol with the short barrel and send it in for a stock once the paperwork got approved; or would you buy the carbine and send it in for the short barrel once the paperwork got approved? Why?

I want to get it in a legal form now so that I can get range time on it, rather than letting the SBR version sit in limbo waiting for the approval.

Thanks!

I'd imagine it would be easier to buy the pistol and add a stock later. That's usually the route people take on AK/AR pistols anyways.

Just a humble opinion, I have worked with the Kriss as an LEO and did a test and evaluation on the SBR full auto version. Without getting into the entire T&E, I can tell you that I broke it in less than 5 mags. I fired both semi auto and full. The firing pin broke in two pieces and had a few failure to feed issues with the mags. It did fire well however before it broke. When I contacted Kriss about the firing pin and mag issues, there answer to me was that they were aware of the faulty firing pins, but sent out the weapon anyway and could not answer the mag issue. It was an eye opener that they would send out a weapon with a know issue especially one that would make the weapon completely useless. Hope this helps in your decision.

The carbine I worked with ran fine through testing, but in semi-auto form it's an ungainly beast & you may want to reconsider buying one to use as an SBR.

Actually, it does. I've been continuing research, and I've come across a couple more experiences like yours; so I basically punted. Too expensive to risk, especially considering that it's not a need, just want a carbine that shoots same round as my pistol.

I'm going to go for either the Bazooka Brothers BAZ45, the Just Right Carbine, or the Thureon Defense carbine. From what I've read, the BAZ45 appears to be the nicest; but the other two, I think, are built to use Glock mags, which would fit my pistol.

Back to research. Thanks, guys!
