Hi everyone!

Time to share a pure masterpiece of SBW collaboration project with Dmitry Sinkevich of 2014 year – Polutchotkiy.

This is the second folder in my collection of SBW & SiDiS collaboration (first one is CannaBis project – CannaBis True with micarta scales that I will share a bit later) and truly the pearl of it.

A brief glance to the history of the project. It is based on Dmitry Sinkevich Polutchotkiy Flipper custom born in august 2013. It found loud appraisal among knife lovers and after brief negotiation with Shirogorov brothers was set to become collaboration project for 2014 year. It is not all the same Flipper of Dmitry actually, the knife was slightly modified, enlarged and… better I show then tell the differences.

And short comparison for knife specs in figures:

Dmitry Sinkevich Custom:

Blade size – 95 х 3.9 х 25 mm (3.74” x 0.15” x 0.98”)
Handle size -133 х 12.5 mm (5.24” x 0.49”)
Weight – 140 g. (4.94 Oz)

Collaboration project

Blade size – 100 х 3.9 х 27 mm (3.94” x 0.15” x 1.06”)
Handle size – 140 х 15 mm (5.51” x 0,59”)
Weight – 140 g. (5.01 Oz)
As you see, in Collaboration we got a bigger, tougher folder with 5 mm longer blade.

If one wishes to compare Collaboration Polutchotkiy with well-known Hati and 111, I got a pic for you as well.

Let’s see Polutchotkiy in detail and macro.

Handle

Made up of two 5 mm thick Ti scales with original wave-pattern on the slopes.

These are joined together with four torx screws (one is hidden under the pocket clip) driven to the backspacer and one trendy pivot screw with original Dmitry Sinkevich screwdriver slot.
Thought scales are rather solid for better balance and light weight they have machined milling inside – four in the front scale and five inside the back one.

Backspacer is also made of titanium, anodized blue and has seven millings over the spine. A design element was to make a slight gap between backspacer arch and scales, making visually handle a bit more lightweight. Still being in length half size of the handle it grants the knife solidness and toughness in hand.

Pocket clip

Clip is also worth of saying a few words. It is rather tight, still folder is setting well to the pocket due to bend of the clip’s edge. I can say that Polutchetkiy has a deep-carry position, not a concealed one, however not attracting much attention. Being anodized blue especially slightly visible on my jeans.

Harmonized with a backspacer in design as well.

Another feature is a hollow made in it, so you can put a rope through it if you like. The upper edge is deepened into the Ti scale eliminating the risk for the clips play through the meantime.

Frame-lock

Blade is fixed with a frame-lock modified by Dmitry Sinkevich with a steel lock-bar insert works also as frame blocking plate (same is used in Coordinal knife of another SBW and Sinkevich colab.)
Symmetric milling is done inside the frame plate and front plate, making easier blade unlocking.

Blade

Is the main part of this knife from my point of view - 100 mm long, has 115 mm edge, thin 0.3 mm bevel thickness running to 0.5 mm at the tip, Persian sabre shaped and M390 steel – I found this combination a strong claim for a good cutter.
Blade grind better be checked on the photos.

Blade deployment works on МRBS, commonly very smooth.

Knife in hand

That’s how the knife grip looks in a middle-size arm.

Now waiting for a second one so that I can put it to my pocket without any doubt or question )))

Some pics for dessert.

that is freakin sick!

I'm not a huge folder guy and rarely comment on them but this is very interesting. Great design.

...the more I see.

THIS is a compelling reason why I love folders so much. They can be so complex, and yet stylish.

Bravo!

That's some clean work right there. A unique look for sure.

I keep coming back to this.

I've come to the conclusion that this Sinkevich fella is the best contemporary folding knife designer going, and that these Shirogov guys look to be about the best at making them. It's a strong opinion that I highly doubt I will change.
