I'm familiar with the following scrimshaw art on the SC506: Squirrel, Raccoon, Fox, Owl, Wild Boar, Ducks, & Pup w/Decoy. Anybody have any pics of something else on the Schrade scrimshawed Barlow? If so, lets see em! Thanks.

Thanks Codger! I see that there was a pheasant that I wasn't aware of. I think there was a special series also involving Presidents. I saw one on the auction site with Abe Lincoln.

There were many more that were special factory orders. Smoky Mountain Knife Works and Ducks Unlimited come to mind. With the ivory Delrin, any image within reason could be pressed into the handles. And with very little added expense to the customer if they provided camera ready artwork, or selected from some existing art and added their own blade etch. The possibilities are near endless. And as with the Sharpfinger pattern, new pieces crop up all the time, many of which are not recorded anywhere that I am aware of. So don't quit looking even when you think you have them all, or have them all listed. Likely you don't. Happy hunting!

By the way, credit where credit is due, that list is courtesy of Mr. Bernard Levine via Ms. Chase, Schrade historian.

The "Lincoln" version aforementioned was part of a sfo set released one knife at a time, and then the box, by American Express. The handles were micarta, not Delrin, and different examples of the "same" knife, such as the barlow, when seen up close, were signed by different artists and had minor differences in the art. I do not fully understand how these were executed.

No, Schrade contributed knives as fundraising and commemorative items for local events such as the Ellenville-Wawarsing 4th of July celebration and annual Christmas decorations. Community events. Even historic preservations such as firehouses and local monuments. Eric or someone else from that area may be able to date this issue. Some are dated in the art or etch. Not too many were made and not many of those traveled outside of the community.
