Anyone ever heard of the SCA94B? I listed a trapper with jigged derlin handles as a 293 trapper and someone suggested that it is a SCA94B. What does SCA stand for? Schrade Cutlery A...?

Any information would be helpful! I would post the link to the photos, but because I am currently selling this knife it would be a violation of the forum policy. Shouldn't be to hard to find... how many Schrade 293 trappers are listed?

Worst part is, I fear I am misrepresenting a good knife by calling it by the wrong model number... I am calling for some knowledge from the real experts - help!

The gentleman who asked the initial question and suggested that my trapper may be an SCA94B just sent the following response to my follow up question...

Hi Kevin, I was deer hunting yesterday and didn't get in until after midnight and didn't feel like answering my mail. (Got 2 deer!) By way of explanation, the centerpieces of my small collection of knives are Schrade Walden 293's, so when one turns up I get interested real fast, particularly if there is something a tiny bit different about it.
The knives in question, SCA94B's, were sold by Smoky Mountain Knife Works after, as I understand the story, they, Blue Ridge Knives, Parker Knives and several lesser wholesalers bought out the stuff Schrade had left. Part of this was knives that Schrade had made up before quitting out of leftover parts of all different kinds, such as the Special Edition Super Sharp blades and the Cigar Box blades and all different patterns of handles, and most of them have no numbers stamped on them. These particular knives that have old 293 pattern handles and LTD blades and no other number were listed a year or so ago in Smoky Mountain's catalog as SCA94B's and I don't know if they named them that or if Schrade named them. I bought a dozen of them and since no one knows much about them I'm finding they don't sell well for me, and lack of knowledge apparently is the drawback. They are fine knives, in my opinion probably not the quality of the old SW 293, or for that matter the Schrade 293, but certainly are not cheap knives and deserve far more respect than they are getting. I just sold, last week, a Schrade Heritage that had these same handles and bolsters, but the blade tang was stamped "Heritage 194" so all kinds of blades were used to make them up. A small detail, one immediate distinguishing feature of these particular knives is that the center rivet is a little bit larger than the end rivets and stands out like a sore thumb in the pictures, another is that there is no shield on the mark side. All of that having been said, I certainly wouldn't be surprised to find one of these one day that had 293 stamped on the tang, since at least two other markings have turned up, the Heritage 194 and one plain 194 that I know of. If a 293 blade does turn up in these handles it will be a desirable addition to a 293 collection and that is why I asked if yours might be one. In the meantime i guess I'll just hold on to the 10 I have left and maybe someday they will get the attention they deserve as a Schrade variation of their own. Thanks for your interest in my question,

So, I just tried to post this information on eBay, but since the auction has less than 7 hours to go I am unable to add this information. Anyway, it sounds like information collectors of Schrade knives should have, so I posted it here...

That is good information and I was actually gonna bid on that knife but bowed out when I recognized who I would be bidding against. I hope he gets it. It would make a fine addition to anyones collection.
