Scabbard and Handle Replacement on Banshee

Hey there, not sure I'm posting in the right forum, but I'm looking for someone who can replace the handle and scabbard on the Hanwei Banshee. The handle of the dha style is quite uncomfortable. The scabbard is a little torn up, and the locking mechanism doesn't work anymore. If anyone is willing to take a shot at keeping the blade, but doing the furniture, I'd be happy to talk to you about it!

Thank you,

Forrest C. Wheeler

For a blade that inexpensive, it's probably not worth having it replaced custom. That's a pretty fair amount of labor, and a custom scabbard would almost certainly run you close to the cost of the sword by itself. You might try giving it a go yourself, however. It's pretty fun, and a lot more cost effective than having someone else do it. I'd probably do a frame-style handle in your shoes, personally, because I don't have the tooling to drill a long enough hole to fit the tang (which I remember being fairly long). Would be a fun project for a DIY type.

The best forum would probably be the services requested forum, though. Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the reply. I'm kind of in a bind on time, and I don't really trust myself to try this out. Thanks for directing me in the right forum! If anything comes of this, I'll update you guys if you're interested.

As a point of information there are various ways of making grips. One is sandwich style in two pieces, which is then sandwiched around the tang. The other involves drilling a starter hole and then heating the tang to red hot and then using it to burn down into the solid grip thus insuring a perfect fit. Just some thoughts. I've done it the one way and have yet to try the other.
