Hello, New to this Forum and this is my first post. looking for a Steel or Solid Silver Scabbard for a 5" blade S.F. type Dagger. Can anyone recommend someone who could make one or where i may find one? Thanks in advance.

First, welcome to the Blade Forums Colt.

There's quite a few custom knifemakers that make excellent and even very decorative steel and/or silver sheaths (Jerry Fisk; Tim Hancock; Larry Fuegen; Harvey Dean; Ron Newton just to name a handful), however I'm pretty sure most will only make them for their knives.
You might just contact them though.

Kevin how could you forget Bruce Bump? :)

You are right Sam as Bruce is an outstanding artist in many ways. I was almost hesitant to name any as there's quite a few makers doing wonderful metal sheathwork.

One of the very best has to be the late Buster Warenski.

Here's a silver & leather sheath as an example of his work.

And of course this beauty.

Sorry Colt to hijack your recommendation thread but thought this was relevant.

Wow! Thanks, those are some great pics and some outstanding blades. I agree, it may be tough to find someone who will make just a scabbard. i have an old S.F. Price or Will & Fink type carved Walrus Ivory handled Dirk that is missing it's orig Scabbard.

If you want a metal sheath, I would highly recommend Curt Erickson, who was the only knifemaker truly taught by Buster Warenski. And if you planned on any engraving, his wife, Julie Warenski-Erickson is probably someone you have heard of.

Curt makes a metal sheath equal to Buster's.

Ooops, I keep forgetting - Curt isn't taking orders for another year or so, sorry.

Thanks so much to everyone for all the input, i do know of Curt and Julie as there Work is truly outstanding. Will work on contacting some of the makers mentioned but would imagine as with anyone doing this high degree of exc workmanship the wait will be loooong. But, as the saying goes, 'Good things come to he who waits".

Before outlaying too much cash (and this won't be cheap) you may want to verify your score with the Antique Knife Experts in Bernard Levine's forum here. That's a tough crowd, though. Be forewarned.

Thanks for the advice, i know all about tough crowds as i also collect WW2 German and i do not believe there is any hobby with more opinions than that!! Can post a couple pics of the Knife but have not figured out how?

Hi colt73. Until you upgrade your membership you can't. You can host them on a free photohosting site and display them. (Photobucket.com, Imageshack.com, etc.)

Or you can send them to me, and for this post, I'll do it... :)

Thanks Kindly for the offer Jim, Pics on the way. Lean towards the opinion that before putting a good amount of cash into a scabbard i should see if the Blade in question warrants it.

Hi Tim,
