Ok so i have just seen a scagel #11 for the first time. now that is a knife. samber stag handles, no bolster, and 1095. that, to me, is the perfect single blade slippie. great shape, awesome materials, made in the U.S.A., and great quality from what i have seen. what do you guys think?

check it out:

Here's my suggestion, for what it's worth.

Save your money, and for not considerably more than that (albeit very nice) production knife, you can get one of these custom made from ABS master smith Ray Kirk. (Who, I must admit aside from being an excellent knifemaker is a valued friend.) Forged 52100 (done right), stag, half stops and an edge that will cut like nobody's business.

I've gotta go with Elliot on this one and recommend getting one of Ray's Scagel folders.

i would but im not big ont he sperpoint(i think) blade on it. for the kind of knife im lookin for i think a nice clip point is the one i wat, now if he would do a clip point instead then i might do that, unless i found a scagel #11 for a steal. at the moment, im just looking still though.

Ray knows how to make a great clip point and if you told him that that was what you wanted, I'm sure he could accommodate you. That's the beauty of custom knives. With most reputable makers you can get what you want.

that is true blue. i guess i am still a major noob at custom knives seeing as i dont have one. i forget that they can do jsut about anything for the customer. now if i could find an extra 100 bucks lying around.

I'll confirm that Ray's scagel style folder would be an excellent alternative. For $195 I believe he'll do it with wood or bone scales. His liners are titanium and you get excellent carbon steel worked by a Mastersmith.
