Scagel - 1993?

It looks like nice version of a Marbles camp knife. Probably some special run, but I would guess Marbles made it.

It appears to be a handmade scagel from the tang stamp.

Marbles would probably have put their name on it themselves.

It does not look like a handmade scagel that I've ever seen and it may be a forgery.

I thought Scagel was well dead by 1993??

I saw that auction when it went up and was confused and curious by it too. It does look like a Marbles kind of knife. There's another 1993 Scagel auction up now where the blade is more upswept, closer to what most people would think of Scagel. Still confused about the 1993 Handmade stamp thing.

Howdy,

These were made by the Parker knife company. At the time they were making unauthorized Marble knives, these were made in german(Olbertz).

At some point, they felt Scagel would be a good name, so the 1993 Scagel's were born.

I have a catalog around here with the models, prices, etc... The Marble's or Scagel were closed out at $100-130 depending on combination stag end cap/leather, all stag. The Scagel was offered in that blade style and a big trailing point. The knives claimed to be a $300 retail value.

That does not look like a scagel, apart form the fact that its a little late for it to be 1993!!! to say the least. it closely resembles a marbles, or one of the ag russel contract fixed blades
