I just finished this for a customer who has been waiting for it for some time. A matching Scagel-style camp knife to match a Scagel-style hunter I made some time ago. Its the largest, heftiest knife I've made so far. It could be a camp knife or a Scagel style Bowie, if there's such a thing. A bit heavy for a fighter.
Specs - 9inch straight backed O1 blade, subtle convex grind, full convex edge. Just under 1/4inch thickness. Edge hardened, triple tempered. Brass/416/brass stacked guard, alternating linen, canvas Micarta spacers, Red Deer antler. I haven't put in the handle pin yet. Balanace in 1 inch in front of the guard. The handle is again one of my oversized ones at 5-3/4inches long. But is still very comfortable even for small hands like mine.
I wanted to use Micarta instead of leather washers for spacers as a modern touch and no other steel / nickel / copper spacers. Thanks for looking. As always all comments, good or bad, heartily welcomed. Jason.
