Scagel-style Camp Knife. My biggest so far.

I just finished this for a customer who has been waiting for it for some time. A matching Scagel-style camp knife to match a Scagel-style hunter I made some time ago. Its the largest, heftiest knife I've made so far. It could be a camp knife or a Scagel style Bowie, if there's such a thing. A bit heavy for a fighter.

Specs - 9inch straight backed O1 blade, subtle convex grind, full convex edge. Just under 1/4inch thickness. Edge hardened, triple tempered. Brass/416/brass stacked guard, alternating linen, canvas Micarta spacers, Red Deer antler. I haven't put in the handle pin yet. Balanace in 1 inch in front of the guard. The handle is again one of my oversized ones at 5-3/4inches long. But is still very comfortable even for small hands like mine.

I wanted to use Micarta instead of leather washers for spacers as a modern touch and no other steel / nickel / copper spacers. Thanks for looking. As always all comments, good or bad, heartily welcomed. Jason.

Jason, that really rocks!

Your grinding is beautiful, the choice/fit-up/shape and finish of the handle really compliments the knife and it's wonderful lines!!! :)

BRAVO! :D

The only thing that would make me like it better, other than being the proud owner, would be a looong clip...........sharpened even! ;)

That's so beautiful, it sings.
I don't think I mention enough how much I enjoy looking at your work.

I see more Scagel in the handle than I do in the blade, but I LOVE the blade on this one - looks more than ready to handle any big-knife task that might be thrown at it.

Nice stuff Jason. Very nice.

Roger

Your bowies are outstanding these days. I seriously don't know how you find the time.

Jason, you are finally starting to make some good sized knives :p . This is another outstanding example of your work. I am not a fan of brass, but that doesn't take away from how much I like this knife.

Sweet lordy!

Jason, I love it! You have outdone yourself pal.

Come to papa! :)

I had the opportunity to handle this one (thanks Jason!). very nice.

Sorry for bringing up a two year old thread, but I was thinking about this very knife recently. Whomever is the proud owner of this knife, can you do me a favor and PM me?
