Scagels?

Hey guys--I have a hankering for another nice slip joint, something user friendly but with excellent fit and finish. I have been looking at the (non BF dealer reference removed) Scagel folders, and wonder about how their quality compares to some other options out there. The Jack looks nice, as does the fruitport (and there are plenty of both). I'm also intrigued by the Dogwood--nice design, but looks very stocky.

Is there any first-hand feedback on any or all of these models? How is the quality? Are any of these a better buy than the others? They are all at the top of what I would pay for a production slip joint.

Cheers,
Daniel

Daniel......

The Barehead Jack and Fruitport are Great Eastern Cutlery built knives...so no worries there, they're exceptional built knives.............the Dogwood is Queen Cutlery built though I don't have any experience with this one...............

Thanks--and sorry about the mistaken inclusion. Mulling between these knives I've found that they are larger than I expected (listed length was for their blades, not frames). But they seem very nice.

Any other reviews/comparisons?

I've got two of those Dogwoods, one in stag and one in bone. The Dogwood is the biggest little knife you'll find. Its about the same size as a GEC #56 but seems much larger in hand. Here is the stag Dogwood has been in my pocket for months with a GEC 56 and a Schatt & Morgan small jack.

The Dogwood is an interesting and unusual looking brute!

Broad blade, and broad shadow handles looks very tidy indeed. Nice stag on it too.

Thanks, Will
