I bought these chicken breasts that were huge. I know I know we all like big breasts, but these were like 1.5 lbs a piece. Using my nice German poultry snips I could not get enough leverage. So out comes the 4.1. Using the knife as a lever, no problem cutting through the bone. Anyway, point being, I ran the knife through hot water, dried everything, set the knife on my desk. Later, looking at the blade I notice the scales had gotten really light almost bleached. Green canvas now looks like salt and pepper. Looks different, but I like it. Just a heads up for all of you waiting on those pretty colors. You wouldn't want Red linen looking light pink. Anyone have similar results?

Hey RJ, its just a micarta thing. When they get thoroughly cleaned and dried they do that, with use or oil it will darken right back up. I have also found that leather sheaths will do this because it sucks the oil into the sheath and out of the micarta (combined with the light brushing of the leather against micarta on the inside). I have a mini grip with custom micarta scales and got stuck out in a rain storm. I thoroughly dried it when i got back and oiled the insides, but left the micarta alone...it did the same thing.

I keep USP grade mineral oil under the kitchen sink in order to keep my carbon steel knives coated. I use USP grade mainly for kitchen knives and knives used for food prep. A little oil on the canvas micarta handles really makes the pattern pop. That is until the next wasting with soap and water.
