I have an older Ontario-Rat3. Its Great! Will the orange scales from the new Rat cutlery version fit it? If So are they possible to get?

Great knives yall!!

The RC-3's handle is a little longer, so I would guess no.

Also, the fit would probably be all wonky anyway, since the scales on RC knives are fitted to each knife individually.

I believe that RAT has stated that they will not be selling scales my themselves for that reason.

I'd just pick up a new RC-3.....you will see what you are missing then!

o man, I can smell the storm of RAT supporters trying not to post what they want to say in this thread....

Anyway, I'm pretty sure they are not interchangeable, don't quote me on that.

P.S. I hope owning the Ontario one isnt heresey!!! I just realized theres some kind of stink going on between companies? Seems opinions of Ontario are pretty negative, But I bought this one a long time ago I think before RAT cutlery started. Should I throw it away and buy a new one? LOL.

don't throw it away. clean it up and sell it to someone wanting to buy a new Ontario knife. then buy a new RC knife. :D

No, but seriously, they are good knives, its just some recent legal dilemmas that are really making us angry. Because NO ONE threatens a company that takes care of their customers like RAT and gets away with it.

That be O.K. with me:o

I dont know what happend. I tend to buy knives and Its good to have the inside scoop on where your money is going!!

O.:( That just dont seem right at all... What is the current status of that situation?

Some of the things The RAT representatives (Jeff?) Had to say regarding Ontario in spite of the situation really impressed me. Minding us that they are an American company and not wanting a boycott on them by bladeforums,
and thinking of the employees and families that are supported by that company. Real stand up people over there at RAT, it seems...

With the exception of our Ontario/RAT Model 1 folder, RAT designs have always been manufactured in the United States. Shortly before RAT announced our decision to start a new line away from Ontario Knife Co., we notified our customer base that we were discontinuing the Model 1 due to it being manufactured overseas. With most all of the American made knife companies going overseas with part of their product line, RAT decided overseas manufacturing, at the expense of the American worker, did not follow our business philosophy. You will never see another RAT design manufactured outside the United States. This decision will take some money out of our pockets due to smaller profit margins, but we'll live with it. Hopefully, other knife companies will follow our lead and realize that in the long run, business ethics far outweigh the high profit margins on Chinese imports. Even if you don't buy a RAT Cutlery knife, we urge everyone to buy from American made knife companies and put your faith and money towards the American worker and citizen. There are many American made companies out there that produce excellent knives. Spend your knife money with companies who build their lines in the good ol' USA, even if none is spent with RAT Cutlery Co.

And...........im sold.

Yeah its starting to come together for me I think. Probably one of those IZULAs in my future.

It came together for me last week. :)
Got the Izula last friday and its be awesome since.
I scored a tan RC-4 last night and look forward to my first full fisted RAT in hand.
The only thing I think RAT is missing in the line up is a folder and a large chopper, both of which if im not mistaken are in the works. When all that comes around, there really isn't anything I'd want.

Ive been trying to modify another knife to suit me. Then I saw an IZULA pic and went "crap":grumpy:

The IZULA seems to be more streamlined in the few places that dont suite me on the BK11. Modifying them would make the sheath not work. This is the journey that somehow led me to the RAT forum. Not to badmouth this knife in any way! It has been great and has quite a following of its own.

Profile I was going for look familiar?

:D

I like the handle on the izula, and see several ways I want to wrap it. That knife is going to wind up in the woods with me yet!

Nice looking Necker. Hah, Spec, as soon as I saw the title of the post I thought the same thing you did! Looks like we've shown the light to another boys!
