Scale repair. Fix.

Hope I’m in the right place for this.
I was cleaning up an old Scout Knife, Camillus. Four line stamp.
Anyway I noticed the scales pulling away at one end. Best I can tell it appears there’s like a stub protruding from backside of scale that goes into the metal????
Admittedly I don’t know anything about this as I’ve never run across it. I took some pics I’ll post. I had to rig a light to get it to show.
Anybody got any advice as how to fix?
It’s a nice old knife. Far from perfect. But I’d like to fix it if possible. If not I guess just leave it alone. Scales are perfect everywhere else.
Thanks in advance.

I believe those have tabs that are bent against the inside of the liner, if the scales are metal.
All I can suggest is to hold the scale in place, and look in the liner with a flashlight. If you see the tab protruding-you'll have to figure some way to crimp it back down.
If the scales are plastic, you're on your own.

The scales are delrin or whatever they used.
But I’ll do what you suggested. Maybe I can see something down in there. Just at first look it seems they should pop back in. But again. I don’t have a clue.
Thanks. I’ll take another look.

Ok. After looking again aimed up to a ligh with my loupe yes the things are pressed out from the liner. So I gotta get the scales lined back up somehow.
My first thought it was like tabs on inside of the scales. But you are correct.

And if I can’t get anywhere, I might just try the vise thing.

I can’t see how they’re misaligned like that with everything else good.

Thanks to everyone for the info and advice.

Well. A little progress. Actually a lot. I have a big lighted magnifier or else the wife does. Anyway I checked it out under that thing.
Definitely metal tabs coming out if the liner.
Strange thing I could ever so barely make out an opening in one of the scales appeared the scale needed to move up?!?!?!
Just a tad. But of course all that’s tiny anyway.
It’s pouring rain here and I didn’t want to go down to the shop where the vises are so I let a little redneck come out and wrapped the heck out of the jaws on a pair of channel locks I had up here. Pressing lightly and kinda wiggling just a bit toward the end I got dang near all of it back in place. Yea sounds goofy but it worked.
I’ll check tomorrow and see if it slipped back out.
I’ve heard of scale shrinking somewhere. Don’t know if it does with this delrin or whatever it is. Any rate as of right now probably 85% where it needs to be. Will see what it does in the morning. Lol.
Again thanks for the info and advice.
