Finally got some micarta replacement scales coming for my BK2, 'grivory' just didn't do anything for me. Is it a good practice to give the tang a light coating of petroleum jelly, dry-slide, or some other lubricant prior to installation? I assume that micarta is compatible with about any lubricant out there.

If the knife still has the black coating, it shouldn't be necessary. Oil won't harm the micarta.
