My plan is to purchase the military 2 in Micarta and swap scales with my 15v g10. I know the ferrule can be hard to remove from the scales, so my question is.. Can I take the pivot out of each knife and just swap blades? Removing scale screws so they will pivot on the ferrule. Leave the scales attached to the ferrule and pivot them for blade removal. Will this work? Probability of blades centering after reassembly? After I get my 15v shod with Micarta the g10 cruware will be posted for sale.

Yup ... just like 91bravo said it's pretty easy to swap blades and his pointer on getting things aligned and centered then tightening the handle screws has worked well for me too.

Oh, good, this is acceptable? I just did this between Para3's, but have been reluctant to admit it. My first time. I did damage the ferrule on one, but also replaced the hardware set. I mated a Maxamet blade to the Cruwear's stock micarta scales, and all the replacement parts went with the Cruwear blade. Easier than i expected, and yeah, great centering.

Yeah that’s why I want to,pivot the scales on the ferrule. I considered maxamet and it was less expensive but less toughness than the 15v. The short para 3 blade probably be just fine, but I wanted a little more for a 4” blade.
