Scale texture - have they gone too far the other way?

For years people complained about CS scales being "pocket shredders", but have they gone too far the other way now? I have an Air Lite, and one of the new Mini Recon's, and when I first got them I loved the texture...good grip without being too aggressive.

Fast forward almost a year, and I've been carrying the Mini Recon once a week, while the Air Lite didn't quite make the rotation and went into storage (not that I don't like it, just like others a bit more).

The scales on the Mini Recon have smoothed considerably, almost to the point of why bother having any texture at all? Dug out the Air Lite to compare and was brought back to when I first got them...nice and grippy!

Thoughts?

I personally always liked the aggressive G10.

As an example; the older American Lawman had ideal scales when it was in AUS8A steel. When they upgraded the steel to DLC coated CTS-XHP, I thought the knife would have been perfect, but then they went to thinner scales with less texture.

Think if they went like half-way in between what they used to do, and what they do now, it would be perfect.
