This has probably been asked a hundred times already. I just couldnt find it. Sorry.
☺
What are the little waves for which form where many Busse knife handles meet their blades?
Just cool design or anything practical?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you are talking about. Are you referring to the blade coating?

Thank you.
I dont mean any spine jimping and not the texture of the scales.
Just the line the handle/scales form exactly where it meets the blade. Is that called jimping too?

It's just that knifes design. They don't have a name for it.It just looks cool. Some knives are meant to show off their good looks, others are more for practicality.

To clarify, I believe Jens is talking about this...

Thank you for taking the time. Josephrogers, yep these little waves. :D
Maybe they slow down liquids so they have time to drip off before reaching the handle and making it slippery? Or something else or really just design.

Looks like an extra little step that sets some Busse knives apart from other makers. I like them

No applicability. Strictly design

Not true!
They're there to push people making sheaths either to a loony pen or creative solutions ;)

My guess would be that those were meant to set the knives apart back in the day and make the brand more recognizable.

I fully agree with the above, it drives me crazy trying to mate the shape of the handle to the mouth of the sheath sometimes. The custom shop handles can be a real challenge. :D

Yes, but when executed properly by a sheath craftsman ( be it leather or kydex) it truly completes the package

Thanks guys.
Sorry to hear that there is no functionality behind it though I'm still hoping for some cool explanation. Maybe having a less hard line when the blade gets bend against the handle makes the blade snap later (not that Infi ever snaps anyways) :D

Even if there's no engineering behind the waves I still like how it looks and makes the knives appear more organic. Maybe that impression could be even enhanced by having waves of different heights and lengths on the same scale. Sorry sheath magicians, I'm sure you could deal with that too. 😆
