Scallion clip - easy upgrade for more discreet, easier to us, deep pocket carry

I like my Kershaw Scallion a lot, but do not like the stock clip. Too big, too bright, and too hard to use since the tip of the clip rises very little off the handle of the knife and therefore is hard to get started onto your pocket.

I looked over my other knives for a clip swap, and I found that the Kershaw Ember clip, which is a black painted, shorter, deep pocket carry clip with a much larger 'opening,' fits perfectly on the Scallion. The Thistle uses the same clip as the Ember, so if you have one of those already and are not interested in using the clip on one, then five minutes with the proper torx driver will give you a more discreet and easier to use Scallion pocket clip.

If you don't have a Thistle or Ember, they are $18 and $20 on Amazon, so they are cheap donors and will leave you with a usable knife when you are done with them. The Thistle should even be able to use the long curved Scallion clip since it is drilled both sides.

I find my Scallion much easier to use now with its 'new' clip.

First post, first thread!

I am a fan of the Scallion knives, and Kershaws in general. I own several, and have removed the clips from most of them. I am not a fan of clip carry; rather have them loose in my pocket.

I have no trouble removing the clips from any knife in my collection EXCEPT for the Scallion. I have two Scallions, one old, one just arrived, and I cannot remove the torx screws on either of them. They are supposed to be T6 size, but my driver will not work with them. It feels like maybe the screws in the Scallion are perhaps Lok-Tited in there? I recently removed clips from a Cryo G10 and a Clash with no trouble at all, so I don't think it's my Torq driver. I called Kershaw/Kai and they said just mail them in and they would remove them for me, but I hate to do that without checking for a simpler solution....if there is one! <g>

Thanks, ya'll

If they are loc-tited then hitting them with a little heat from a small butane torch will fix that.

I have done this on Leatherman tool pivot screws and it takes like 10-15 seconds of heat to loosen up the loc-tite. They don't have to be crazy hot, so there's no risk to the heat treat, as long as the scales are metal as they are on most Scallions you should be good to go.

If course this is at your own risk :D
